The major focus of Shipping Australia, as a peak industry body, is both to promote and advance the interests of ship owners and shipping agents in all matters of shipping policy and safe environmentally sustainable ship operations. Shipping Australias members cover many of the major Australian and international ship owners, operators and agency companies involved in bulk, tanker, general cargo shipping, container, passenger and tramp trades.

The role of the AAMA is essentially to generate greater public awareness of maritime affairs. It is not oriented to single industries or interests but provides a focal point for all those with an interest in maritime affairs, especially those people in business, tertiary institutions, the marine professions and the public service who are concerned with any aspect of Australia's maritime affairs.

MARLU-PAC is U.S. Pacific Fleet's liaison with the commercial maritime industry, charged with facilitating cooperation and information sharing between the international civil maritime industry and the U.S. Navy throughout the Asia Pacific region. Our liaison officers travel regularly throughout the Asia/Pacific region to foster communication, stay apprised of changes in the maritime infrastructure and maritime management, and proactively address industry concerns and questions on a variety of issues related to safety and security at sea.
